Berlin, Symphony of a Great City (1927) is a timeless portrait of Weimar Berlin, made under the influence of Rien que les heures (1926) by Cavalcanti and relying on the Soviet montage school and the expressionism of Dziga Vertov, who in turn was inspired by Ruttmann's work for Man with a Movie Camera (1929). Presented with live soundtrack by the acclaimed Croatian space jazz rock band Chui (keyboards, saxophone, drums, bass). Drawing heavy inspiration from vintage sci-fi TV shows, movies, and comic books, Chui have created a distinctive musical style that remains anchored in jazz while boldly exploring other genres.
