What's on in the city this summer

Kinnekswiss loves… 

Following the great success of previous open-air concerts at the Kinnekswiss, part of Luxembourg City's municipal park, the Luxembourg City Conservatoire and the Philharmonie Luxembourg musical institutes are pleased to announce the fourth edition of "Kinnekswiss loves…" that will take place on Saturday, 9 and Sunday, 10 July 2022. The main aim of this festival is to showcase this iconic spot in the heart of the capital. Plus, it goes without saying that this festival will be one of the major musical events taking place in Luxembourg City throughout summer 2022.

LXB Cup

Skateboarding enthusiasts won't want to miss the LXB Cup from 8–10 July at Place de L'Europe (Philharmonie). The full programme can be found here.

Lost Paradise

Are you a music lover? Then the Lost Paradise festival in Kirchberg is a must!

Summer am Park 

The "Summer am Park" project aims to bring fun and laughter to Merl Park with a funfair from Friday, 15 July to Sunday, 11 September 2022. So bring the kids along to hook a duck, hop on the "Wonder Express" and ride the slide.

Blues'n Jazz Rallye 

The Blues'n Jazz Rallye is back on 16 July. Every year, this internationally renowned festival attracts thousands of visitors to the older districts of Pfaffenthal, Clausen and the Grund. The districts will be closed to traffic during the event, which offers a sophisticated programme ranging from blues to jazz.

Over the course of the evening, dozens of well-known musicians will perform live concerts on stages set up around the old town, whilst offering a unique view of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The setting and atmosphere at this urban festival make it one of a kind in Europe. Entry is free.

Klangbuer – Mansfeld Sessions

This series of concerts in the intimate setting of Mansfeld Park in Clausen is back this summer from 16–31 July. Visitors can discover both Luxembourgish and international artists in unique surroundings on an open-air stage in Mansfeld Park. The "Klangbuer – Mansfeld Sessions" are a must for fans of jazz, rock, classical and world music. What's more, "Klangbuer" 2022 will kick off on Saturday, 16 July as part of the "Blues'n Jazz Rallye".

City Open-Air Cinema @ Palace 

Following the success of previous years, the City Open-Air Cinema, brought to you by the Luxembourg City Cinémathèque museum, will once again stand proud on the forecourt of the Grand Ducal Palace from 22–30 July. This moonlit cinema is "larger than life", featuring a giant screen, more than 500 seats and a welcoming atmosphere for star-filled nights of excitement and suspense.

Kanner in the City 

As part of its "Aktioun Bambësch" children's activity programme, the City of Luxembourg's Service Foyers scolaires – Département CAPEL (Childcare Department – Creative Learning Centre) is once again organising its traditional "Kanner in the City" games festival on Friday, 29 July from 14:30–17:00 and Saturday, 30 July from 13:30–18:30 at Place de la Constitution, as well as on the strip that runs alongside Boulevard Roosevelt towards Pont Viaduc.

This year, this festival that reflects the city's commitment to its children and families, is based on the theme "Spillfabrik", or play factory, with games incorporating water, movement, dance and even some DIY. Children aged 4 to 12 years old and their parents can really let their hair down and participate in games and workshops offered by the "Aktioun Bambësch" coordinators and "SpielMobile" professional performers from all over Europe.

Theaterplage 

Proven to be a big hit since its launch in 2019, the "Theaterplage" project that transforms Place du Théâtre into an entertainment space will once again take place from Friday, 8 July to Sunday, 11 September 2022 inclusive, open daily between 10:00 and 22:00.

A large 350-m² sandbox with sun loungers and sunshades in the "multiplicity" colours, a boules pitch, various plants and colourful decorations including flags and fairy lights will delight both young and old. As a finishing touch, catering chalets will also be available.

"Summerstreets 2022"

Throughout summer 2022, bright and cheerful decorations will line the city's streets and squares providing additional sunshine for tourists and residents alike. An array of lanterns, flags, banners, butterflies and foliage will be suspended along different streets to transform them into little slices of summer paradise.

D'Stad liest 

From 17 August to 11 September, an open-air library in the courtyard next to the cathedral (Rue Notre-Dame) will invite book lovers, residents and visitors to the capital to take a seat under the towering tree at the centre of the courtyard and read a book, magazine or newspaper in this relaxed setting. There will be a selection of books for both young and old. A number of book readings and workshops will also be held throughout the day or in the evenings.

"Concerts de midi"

The "Concerts de midi" are part of a long-standing tradition of free concerts offered by the City of Luxembourg since 1983. The aim of these concerts is to invite fans of classical music to a melodious lunch break in different spots around the city. These "Concerts de midi" take place free of charge on certain Fridays and offer a repertoire ranging from traditional classics to more exotic discoveries. They are beautiful encounters, be they lively, exotic or relaxing, aimed at any music lover looking for a diverse musical programme.

"Konscht am Gronn"

The "Konscht am Gronn" open-air art festival takes place on the first Sunday of the month, May through to October, from 10:00–18:00. Upcoming dates: 03.07, 07.08, 04.09 and 02.10.2022

Explore the Pétrusse Casemates 

After undergoing major renovations, the Pétrusse Casemates tourist attraction is as good as new. It reopened its doors to the public on 5 June 2022 with an exciting new concept. Thanks to a custom-designed layout, Pétrusse Casemates is one of the capital's, if not the country's, major attractions. Visitors can expect a one-of-a-kind experience with projections on the gallery walls and impressive soundscapes, transporting them back in time as the casemates' boulders come to life to tell their story!

Guided tours of the Grand Ducal Palace 

Each and every year, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office organises exclusive guided tours of the Grand Ducal Palace. This year, they will take place from 20 July until 31 August, inclusive. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience an exceptional tour in the company of a City of Luxembourg-certified tourist guide, while discovering the history of the Grand Ducal family.

Guided tours by Luxembourg City Tourist Office

The portfolio of guided tours offered by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office is vast and varied. Examples include the "City Promenade", the "Circuit Wenzel" and visits to the Stade de Luxembourg stadium, not to mention the "City Safari" and "City Promenade for Kids" especially for families. The Luxembourg City Tourist Office also offers an array of themed guided tours with a personal guide.
