Barbecue season is under way!

A good barbecue is an essential part of any summer! But did you know that there are quite a few tips for achieving the perfect barbecue?

  • Make sure that you have enough fuel (charcoal or gas) for your barbecue.
  • Keep your grill clean: it is important to keep your barbecue or griddle pan in perfect condition; that way they will last forever!
  • Oil the grill: it is important to use vegetable oil to oil the grill well, but don't use too much.
  • Keep a bottle of water with holes in it – or a bottle with a nozzle – close to hand: this is particularly important when using charcoal. If grease hits the charcoal, it burns and the flames burn the mean! Be in control of the flames.
  • Allow the grill to heat up properly before putting meat onto it. This is important not just for the grilling process, but also for ensuring that meat and fish are cooked through! One good piece of advice is to hold your hand above the grill and if you can't hold it there for longer than five seconds, the grill is hot enough to get started.
  • Do not pierce the meat: never pierce the meat to check if it's cooked because the juices will escape and this will immediately dry out your steak or chicken breast.
  • Once you are done barbecuing the meat, let it rest: do not cut the meat too soon but let it rest for a few moments, which will allow the juices to be reabsorbed back into the meat, making it more tender.
